About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the academic year 2001-2002 an annual intake of 60 students. The department offers one UG programme (EEE- 4 Years) and one PG programme (PED-2 Years). This department has well qualified and experienced faculty to strengthen and fulfill the needs of the students. This department has very good instructional and infrastructure facilities. The department has high configured laptops in the Power simulation lab in order to help students to get the hands-on experience to augment their theoretical knowledge.

The Department library has good collection of text and reference books. The department encourages association activities such as Mini project exhibition, Workshops, technical symposiums, Seminars, etc., every year. The students of this department got placed at various industries and MNC’s.

To be a center of excellence for technological education, training & research and to equip the students with the innovations and developments in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, enabling them to become employable, successful and responsible citizens of the country.

Mission

To provide intensive training in the fundamentals as well as the current trends in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, to continuously update the various facilities in the department and facilitate R&D and to disseminate knowledge by organizing seminars, Faculty Development Programs and Workshops.

Electrical Engineering Practices  Laboratory 

To provide exposure to the students with hands on experience on basic engineering practices in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This Laboratory is equipped with the following equipments

  Electric Circuits Laboratory 

To impart hands on experience in verification of circuit laws and theorems, measurement of circuit parameters, study of circuit characteristics and simulation of time response. This Laboratory is equipped with the following components

Measurement & Instrumentation Laboratory

To expose the students with an adequate work experience in the measurement of different quantities and also the expertise in handling the instruments involved.
This Laboratory is equipped with the following equipments

  Electrical machines Laboratory  

The Electric Machines Laboratory is the Department's main facility for instruction in the operation, testing, and control of electric machinery and electric power equipment. The Laboratory aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in electric power technology that can be applied directly in industry

It contains the full range of AC and DC machines, with all necessary meters. The lab caters to conventional experiments that form the core of the EEE course.

To expose the students to the principle of control engineering with specialized equipments – Servo motor, Synchros and stepper motor. To enhance the practical knowledge in simulation of first and second order systems.

 Power Electronics Laboratory

To study the characteristics of switching devices and its applications in rectifier inverter, chopper and resonant converter. This makes the student learn how to apply the electronic devices for conversion, control and conditioning of electronic power.

It also gives an idea of different types of power semiconductor devices and their switching characteristics.

This also helps to understand the operation, characteristics and performance parameters of controlled rectifiers. This lab gives an insite for different modulation techniques of pulse width modulated inverters and to understand the harmonic reduction methods.

This Laboratory is equipped with the following equipments.

Power System Simulation Laboratory 

 

Power system simulation models are a class of computer simulation programs that focus on the operation of electrical power systems. These computer programs are used in a wide range of planning and operational situations including:

  1. Long-term generation and transmission expansion planning
  2. Short-term operational simulations
  3. Market analysis (e.g. price forecasting)

This Laboratory is equipped with the HP630 Second generation
Core i3/2gb ddr3/500gb hard disk, HP brand Laptops and MATLAB software has been installed for the benefits of the students to do the programs.

These programs typically make use of mathematical optimization techniques such linear programming, quadratic programming, and mixed integer programming.

Key elements of power systems that are modeled include:

  • Load flow (power flow study)
  • Short circuit
  • Transient stability
  • Optimal dispatch of generating units (unit commitment)
