About the Department :

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the academic year 2012 with the aim of imparting quality education to the students. Total intake of students is 60. The 21st Century is witnessing many challenges due to the rapid developments in technological revolution, population growth, environmental concerns, and more. The coming years will be the most creative, demanding, and rewarding of times for civil engineers.

Civil engineers are in the forefront of development of any Nation. Our future as a nation will be closely tied to infrastructure, transport, natural resources, energy, environment, space and our ability to compete in the global economy. All these create unique demand and opportunities for civil engineers of every speciality.

As the technological revolution expands, as the world's population increases, and as environmental concerns mount, skilled and talented civil engineers are in big demand.  There is no limit to the personal satisfaction from helping to make our world a better place to live. Whatever the specialty one may select in Civil Engineering, be it design, construction, research, teaching, or management, civil engineering offers a wide range of career choices for the bright future.

Further, we are living in a global knowledge driven society where:

  •  distance is no longer a constraint
  •  information is global, immediate and increasingly participative
  •  interdependence has dramatically increased
  • innovation is increasingly driven by a collective effort.

Obviously, these trends impact on us to give quality education to our students to contribute to economic and social innovations so that our nation will find a better place in the new economy.

SURVEY PRACTICE LABORATORY:

                In this lab, we provide practical knowledge on handling basic survey instruments and Total  station including leveling, Theodolite, Plane table, Tacheometery and development of contour map of given area, carryout Triangulation, Astronomical  surveying  also including general field marking for various engineering projects and curves setting

 

 

 

HYRAULIC ENGINEERING LABORATORY:


         In this lab, the students will be able to measure flow in pipes and determine frictional losses and to develop characteristics of pumps and turbines

 

STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LABORATORY:

 

   In this lab, to  expose  the  students  to  the  testing  of  different materials  under  the  action  of  various forces and determination of their characteristics experimentally. The  students  will  have  the  required  knowledge  in  the  area  of  testing  of  materials  and components of structural elements experimentally.

 

 

SOIL MECHANICS LABORATORY:

       

      In this lab, the students will learn the Engineering and Index properties of soil. These properties are determined by both field and laboratory test methods.

Also these properties are essential for the design of foundation and earth structures.

CONCRETE AND HIGHWAY LABORATORY:


     In this lab, the students are able to test the Properties of concrete to understand its suitability for particular job. In this context the concrete laboratory is fully equipped with all the test setups for cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate.

Also that, the Highway materials comprise of Soil, Coarse aggregate, binders & bitumen to design the pavement desirable properties like durability, shape, adhesion of bitumen.

ADVANCED STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY:

In this Structural Engineering Laboratory is well-equipped for structural testing of large-scale structural elements and subassemblies under various loading. The principal element of our Laboratory is a strong wall and floor.

Experiment control and data acquisition is performed using several modern computer-driven systems. The synergy of the hydraulic power capacity, computerized control of the hydraulic actuators and the data acquisition systems makes it possible to perform pseudo-dynamic simulation tests.
